Territories/Location: Los Angeles to Bakersfield to San Diego Territory

Position Overview
We are partnering with a major distributor who is seeking a driven and results-oriented Outside Sales Professional to represent and sell their products within an assigned territory. The company currently represents quality SCADA, Security, and Industrial Automation products for significant industry players and this new team member will represent 5-6 major product lines, targeting Cities, Counties, Water/Waste Departments.

You will play a critical role in connecting customers with cutting-edge solutions while delivering exceptional service. This role is a blend of field sales, office-based activities, and collaboration with our manufacturers to achieve sales targets. You will respond to leads, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the success of the organization by providing innovative solutions tailored to customer needs.

Key Responsibilities Sales Activities

  • Sales Calls: Dedicate 3.5–4.5 full days per week to field sales calls in your territory.
  • Lead Management: Respond promptly to sales leads provided by the company or third-party manufacturers.
  • Customer Outreach: Schedule meetings with current and prospective customers to showcase products and solutions, including arranging visits for principals from represented manufacturers.

Office & Administrative Support

  • Sales Follow-Up: Work from your home office when not in the field to complete sales follow-ups, schedule appointments, and assist with inside sales.
  • Quotations & Paperwork: Generate and submit accurate quotations for management review and process orders in collaboration with the main office.
  • Data Management: Maintain up-to-date records of sales activity, customer information, and project details in our CRM system.

Collaboration & Representation

  • Team Meetings: Attend scheduled team meetings, training sessions, and manufacturer visits.
  • Trade Shows & Events: Represent the firm at trade shows and events, engaging with customers and promoting our products.
  • Equipment Demonstrations: Manage demonstration equipment responsibly, document loans, and ensure proper care.

Customer & Manufacturer Relations

  • Coordinate customer meetings to align with visits from company’s manufacturers.
  • Occasionally host visiting principals for business dinners or provide transportation to/from the airport or hotel (expenses fully reimbursed).

Content Contribution

  • Assist in creating content for the newsletter, highlighting success stories, product updates, or industry insights.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in sales or a related technical role (engineering background preferred).
  • Technical knowledge of SCADA, Security, and Industrial Automation products.
  • Experience in water/waste irrigation, oil & gas industries highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable with travel (approximately 70%) and occasional evening engagements.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and basic office applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred.
