Savage Search Associates has exclusively been retained to partner with a fast-growing electrical components distributor who is entering an exciting new phase of expansion and is seeking a Vice President of Sales and Operations to lead and scale their commercial efforts.

This role is a senior hands-on leadership position with broad ownership over revenue generation, go-to-market execution, and customer-facing performance. The VP of Sales and Ops will play a critical role in business development, shaping strategy, building a high-performing team, and driving sustainable, profitable growth.

This is a hands-on sales and leadership role with significant autonomy and visibility.

The position is on-site, Monday through Friday, and requires a leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment with a “hunter mentality.”

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Growth

  • Partner with executive leadership to refine and execute growth strategy
  • Translate high-level objectives into clear sales, margin, and account development plans
  • Use data and reporting to track performance, identify trends, and adjust strategy as needed

Revenue Ownership & Sales Execution

  • Own the sales function and overall revenue performance, with a strong emphasis on profitability
  • Lead, coach, and develop a lean, capable sales team focused on high-value opportunities
  • Establish and continuously improve sales processes from lead qualification through close
  • Personally engage in key accounts, complex deals, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Expand presence across priority customer segments through direct sales and channel relationships
  • Maintain authority over pricing strategy within defined guidelines to protect margin health

Market Positioning & Demand Creation

  • Partner with internal and external resources to support demand generation initiatives
  • Help shape campaigns that clearly communicate value, differentiation, and use-case relevance
  • Oversee performance of outbound efforts such as email, digital campaigns, and content
  • Ensure sales enablement tools and materials support effective selling conversations

Customer Experience & Retention

  • Provide leadership and direction to customer-facing support functions
  • Ensure customers receive timely, accurate, and professional service
  • Help evolve the organization from reactive support to proactive account stewardship
  • Incorporate customer feedback into sales and operational planning

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and shared success
  • Coach team members through regular feedback, training, and performance management
  • Partner with HR on hiring, development, and performance evaluation
  • Identify skill gaps and implement targeted training and development plans

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, finance, and internal systems teams to align commercial decisions with execution realities
  • Support process improvements that streamline workflows and reduce friction
  • Align sales activity with margin targets and operational efficiency

  • A focused, confident, and well-coached sales team with clear goals and playbooks
  • Improved visibility and discipline across the sales pipeline

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of senior sales or commercial leadership experience.
  • BS/BA Degree preferred
  • Distribution and electrical components industry experience is a plus.
  • MS Office Suite and CRM proficiency
  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth through both strategy and execution
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized teams in hands-on environments
  • Strong sales coaching and people-development skills
  • Comfort owning pricing, terms, and commercial decision-making
  • Ability to quickly learn technical or complex product offerings
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and effective in flat, entrepreneurial organizations
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel occasionally for industry or customer events
  • Authorized to work in the United States
